Warrior is a sports drama movie about 2 brothers Tommy Conlon and Brendan Conlan who split up when they were teenagers Tommy left with his mother and Brendan stayed with his alcholic father and his girlfriend turned wife. But only a few years after the family split up Tommy and Brendans mother died of cancer but Brendan and his dad never found out that she died because Tommy hated them so much he didnt tell them and they had lost contact. But then 30 years later the family met up again Tommy coming back from war where he lost his best friend and promised his friends wife and kids money and he hired his now recovering alcholic father to coach him for the biggest MMA tournament in history Sparta for 5 million dollors. And Brendan had quit fighting as well and had 2 kids and his wife but they got in financial trouble and brendan started fighting again in night clubs for money behind his wifes back so they didnt lose there house but then he loses his job as a physics teacher for doing the fights and then starts training full time and when one of his teammates who was in Sparta gets injured his coach and long time friend gets him into the tournament. To help him keep his house if he wins. Both the brothers go into the tournament as under dogs and end up in the final together in a thrilling fight scence where they are both crying remebering the things they went through together as kids but in the end Brendan wins the 5 million dollor prize. The final shot of the movie is the 2 brothers walking out of the arena hugging each other and there dad smiling showing the family may have reunited in the most unlikely of ways.
The character that got me hooked to the movie the most is Tommy because he went through so much struggle in his life but still found ways to help people by joining the army and saving a entire group of U.S soilders he didnt even know. The respect fellow soilders have for Tommy is shown when he enters the cage and a whole area of the arena is U.S soilders singing songs in his honour. He also shows through all the pain hes suffered he is willing to enter a MMA tournament for 5 million dollors and give the money to his fallen friends family. The soilders singing songs in his honour and Tommy becoming an instant fan favourite in amongst MMA fans shows us the respect the public has for Tommy and what he is able to do.I feel the reason why people love tommy so much in the movie is everyone likes to see a hero and wants someone to look up to and Tommy is easily that hes a war hero who defended his country and saved many lifes and also a successful hard working athlete that i can look up to knowing no matter where you come from or what youve been through you can persivere and reach greatness and inspire other people to reach greatness changing lifes in the process.
The Movie is relevant to students my age because as young people we all have dreams and goals and we all want to do something great in life but some people think just because you dont grow up in the richest and nicest area with the best circumstances you cant reach these goal and make dreams reality. But this movie shows through what the 2 brothers went through growing up with a alcholic father and their parents spliting and the brothers not seeing each other again until 30 plus years later when they are aboun to fight in a cage and their mum passing away shows us that no matter how bad your circumstances are you can still reach your goals work your way out of any situation and make dreams a reality.

DeleteCory, you've written a great Reading Log. You've given specific examples, and explained your personal response to what happened. I can't imagine winning 5 million dollars - and giving it away! What a great man. Next time, you could explain how the story connects to your own personal life.
