The Hunger Games is a Novel written by Suzanne Collins about a country called Panem and their annual Hunger Games they hold to keep their people scared of the goverment called the Capital the story follows the life of two young teenagers in the lead up to the hunger games and when they are in the hunger games and also after they both win it upsetting the goverments rule and causeing riots in some poor districts the two teenagers the story follows are Katniss Everdeen and Peter Mellark from the poorest district tin the country called district 12.
The Hunger Games is a great read for teenagers but it also has a powerful message behind it about dictatorships and the power of the people if everyone stands up at once and fights against a dictatorship.
The Hunger Games also shows exacly what we have seen throughout history when younger people are the ones who decide to stand up against goverments when they are being unfair. In The Hunger Games Katniss and Peter stand up to the goverment when they both win tthe hunger games by threatening to kill themselves ig they cant both win this causes a uprising. We also saw this in history when african americans were fighting for their rights and the young college students were the ones who done the sit ins and protests to get blacks equal rights.
This links to todays society because their are protests everyday where young people are protesting for different things that are close to them to try get the government to change and give them the changes they wont in society.
Hey Cory,
ReplyDeleteWhat powerful messages you have shared through the Hunger Games novels. I really like how you have linked this back to our society and related it to real world events. Do you think that this is something New Zealand will ever encounter?
Look forward to hearing from you!
