Book/Movie Title: Naughts And Crosses
Author/Director: Malorie Blackman
Text Type: Novel
Date Finished: Friday August 25th 2017

Naughts And Crosses is a novel written by Malorie Blackman about a white guy called Callum and a black girl  called Persephone who have been friends since they were toddlers and fell in love when they grew up. But they live in a dystopia where blacks are the dominant race and whites get treated badly so nobody will let them be together but they still try to be together  in secret for their whole lives until Callum got hung for getting Persephone pregnant.

Naughts And Crosses is a entertaining novel with a powerful message behind it. Naughts and Crosses helps show everyone in the world racism is not acceptable towards any race and it dose not matter if your Muslim European Hispanic African American Asian or Polonyesian you should always be able to get along with people and treat people of opposite races with respect because when we are born and when we die we are all only human.

This is extremly important in todays society becasue if two kids living in a racist society can get along we all should be able to get along well in the twenty first century. The message Naughts and Crosses shows  is important in todays society becuase some people are forgetting how lucky we are and racist protests are happening in Charlotte and all around the world today and  we all need to be reminded to keep the piece  we have in the world today.

I like the way you have related the book to today's world. To what degree do you think this is an issue in New Zealand? There is a Shakespearean play with a similar theme about young lovers (although not the racist theme you've described here). What is the play?
